Contains 15 digital copies of our glass plate negative collection.These glass plates show Commissioned Officers conducting sword drills both mounted on horseback and dismounted. The majority of these glass plates were taken in McKee Barracks, Dublin, in 1927, and show Officers from the Army Equitation school. Some of these glass plates have been used in Defence Forces sword drill manuals, which provided the instructor with a visual aid as to what the movement should look like. Some of the Officers in charge of creating these manuals have been named on the glass plates themselves.

Contains 15 digital samples of our glass plate negative collection on the Railway protection, Repair and Maintenance Corps (RPRMC), and the Salvage Corps. The RPRMC was established in late 1922 and was responsible for the railway network throughout the Civil war. At that time the railway system was under constant attacks and sabotage operations from Anti-treaty forces. The salvage Corps was responsible for salvaging materials from old British army camps with the view of using these valuable materials for other purposes. During the re-organisation of the National Army in 1924 the RPRMC, Salvage Corps and the Works Corps were amalgamated into the Corps of Engineers. The majority of there glass plate negatives were used in an "An tÓglác" publication in 1923.

Contains seven sample digital copies of our glass plate negative collection showing soldiers from The Volunteer Force. The "Tactical and Territorial Organisation of the Defence Forces" was introduced on the 30th July 1934 and was mainly concerned with the setting up of a part time reserves. These reserves became the Volunteer Force and were organised into Regiments which took their Regimental names from Ancient Irish Kingdoms. Within this album soldiers from the Volunteer Force can be seen training in various activities such as foot drill, weapons training and artillery training between the years 1934-1939.
